Mr. Upshaw's 8th grade class

Hello everyone. My name is Quintarries Upshaw and I am originally from  Alabama. I received all of my primary and secondary education from Troy City Schools. I received an Associates of Arts in Sociology from Enterprise State Community College. Shortly after, I received a Bachelor's of Science in Human Services from Troy University. I am currently finished with the Masters of Social Science program at Troy University.   I  plan to take the comprehensive exam this fall. I am also enrolled in the Masters of Social Work program.  I am also writing a few books of various genres. I am a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. 

 Why do I teach?

 I believe that children are empty canvases and life's experiences help them paint an image.  Children deserve to be taught correctly and efficiently. I am extremely passionate about making a difference in my student's lives. I was heavily influenced by my teachers growing up. They were all unique and made sure that no student was left behind. 

 Teaching style

I model my teaching style around the curriculum and the arts. Students need to be entertained long enough so they can grasp the concept of the lesson. Therefore, I use many different methods to assist my students in learning the curriculum.  I believe that every child is a genius, they just haven't tapped into it yet. 

Qualifications

 I have a background in child welfare and security. I worked with the Department of Children and Families, Day-care centers, & Escambia County  Sheriff department. I am still a certified Child Welfare professional and a certified corrections officer. I have served my community by offering free tutoring and mentoring. I have 

 Expectations

 I expect my students to be on time and open-minded. There is no such thing as a wrong answer until you quit trying. My students should expect a challenge because I will be challenging their mind to think each and every day. I want all parents to be involved I do not tolerate bullying of any kind.
